My first visit to Shanghai ment I needed to book and catch a train for the first time since I arrived in China. Wanting to make sure I booked tickets to the right place and time I wanted to use an English language app. For this visit I used Trip.com but I have since then also used the Railway App 12306 both sites have so far worked well for me. I was also give some great advice about the Smart Shanghai app and would recommend anyone visiting Shanghai to download this app from their website.
Back to Shanghai. I stayed near the Jing’an Temple which is a great location. It is about a 15 minute ride by Didi (there is an English version of this app) to The Bund or a bit longer depending on traffic.
Jian’ng Temple
One of the most famous temples in Shanghai, built over 700 years ago. Jiang’an mean ‘quiet and peaceful’ and this temple and area does have that feel to it.

The Streets of Shanghai
I loved just wandering around the streets of Shanghai from admiring the architecture to seeing daily life.

Shanghai Museum
Fantastic museum which had a great display on the History of China.

The Bund
The Bund is located on the Huangpu River. The term ‘Bund’ means muddy waterfront. It’s a beautiful area to walk along in the evening. I made sure to get down just before the sun set. This way I could find a could place to watch the lights in the building come on and watch the boats on the river.
The Bund is an iconic land mark of Shanghai with international buildings that include a range of artitectual styles.

I totally loved my first visit to Shanghai and have been back a couple of times since.
